The Candida diet is a diet based on consumption of healthy food. Unlike other diets, the Candida diet is used to get rid of particular disease, rather than to lose weight, though this is an additional bonus.
Candidiasis – is a common disease among people of different sex and any age. Candidiasis is caused by rapid uncontrolled multiplication of the fungus Candida. The fungus causes an infection that is spreading in certain parts of the body or the whole body.
The Candida diet is intended for prevention and treatment of Candidiasis. Principles of the Candida diet are similar to the principles of low-calorie diets; therefore, a long-term use of this diet causes sustained weight loss.
It should be noted that the fungus causing Candidiasis naturally lives in the body of healthy people. Normally this fungus is found in the intestine, it does not manifest itself and does not cause any harm to the body.
Person’s immunity controls the number of beneficial and harmful microorganisms in the intestines. If failure in the protection system occurred in the person’s body, the fungus Candida is activated and begins to rapidly multiply on the mucous membranes and skin.
If the person’s immune system is greatly weakened, Candidiasis progresses very quickly. Fungi begin to produce large amounts of toxins that can damage internal organs and mucous membranes.
A person diagnosed with Candidiasis should start the Candida diet or other methods of treatment as early as possible. Depending on the location of active reproduction of the fungus Candida, Candidiasis symptoms include:
- White spots on the tongue and in the mouth
- Difficulty in swallowing food
- Redness, itching and discomfort on skin
- White spots on fingernails
- Pain when urinating or during sexual intercourse
The Candida diet is actually very clear and simple – suppression of vital functions of harmful fungi. In the absence of food, the fungus will lose the possibility to multiply. For this reason, the main principle of the Candida diet is an exception of substances that feed Candida.
Number one in this list is sugar of any kind, including white, brown, honey, dextrose, fructose, maltose, syrup and molasses. All simple carbohydrates contribute to the increased multiplication of the fungus Candida.
During the Candida diet, pay a special attention to consumption of foods high in fiber , such as vegetables. Such food helps to normalize microflora and inhibits excessive multiplication of microorganisms.
A lot of fiber is found in such vegetables as cucumbers, cabbage, onions, tomatoes, seaweed, eggplants, celery, Brussels sprouts, asparagus, spinach, garlic, peppers, radish and turnips.
People who diagnosed with Candidiasis should note that:
- Vegetables contain small amount of sugar and do not cause growth of pathogenic fungi
- Fiber contained in vegetables absorbs and removes toxins from the body
- Vegetables such as potatoes, carrots, corn and beets should be avoided because of starch
- Steamed, grilled, or raw vegetables are better for consumption
During the Candida diet, spices and herbs should be added in food: black pepper, cinnamon, fennel, basil, cayenne pepper, cumin, ginger, nutmeg, coriander, tarragon, cloves, curry, turmeric and rosemary. Spices and herbs have very important advantages:
- Improved digestion and prevention of constipation;
- Reduction of inflammation and increase of blood circulation;
- Content of antioxidants with anti-fungal properties.
The Candida diet recipes include various proteins of plant and animal origin. Brown rice, buckwheat, quinoa and other grains containing healthy proteins and a lot of fiber are recommended for healthy food.
It is best to choose organic and fresh meat on the Candida diet. Proteins contained in chicken, beef, eggs, and fish are almost completely free of simple carbohydrates, so they can be consumed in reasonable quantities.
Avoid consumption of fatty meats, bacon, smoked meat, as well as meat products in vacuum packaging. These products contain both useful and harmful substances.
