Longer erections

Adequate sexual life is an integral part of our existence, and a good erection is an indicator of male health, both psychological and physical.

Unstable erection or lack of long erection during a sexual intercourse may greatly erode a man’s self esteem and confidence. Sexual failure and erectile dysfunction may lead to emotional distress and even depressive states, since they are laid in the man’s subconscious for a long time and interfere with further sexual life.

Erection problems may manifest at any age, even in young men (aged 18 and over). However, the question of how to keep an erection for longer time and remain virile as long as possible, tortures men of all ages.

One of the ED varieties is premature ejaculation (PE), which reduces the duration of sexual intercourse, and gives little pleasure to both partners.

In this violation, the sexual act may last not more than 60 seconds after the vaginal penetration. A man is not able to give pleasure to his partner, and he does not feel it, as well.

In addition, problems associated with the PE, subsequently lead to psychological trauma, neurosis based on the expectation of sexual failure, which in turn negatively affects potency and further sexual life of the man.

Therefore, appropriate therapy is recommended starting from the very first PE events. There are various treatment methods, which differ depending on the causes and symptoms of the disease.

If the non-drug PE treatment methods (like psychosexual therapy) proved ineffective, modern medicine recommends special drugs, which may promote ejaculation delay.

In fact, antidepressants are used for the PE treatment and for achieving longer erections, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.

One of the first serotonin reuptake inhibitors, which were approved for the PE treatment, is Dapoxetine. This medication comes in the global pharmaceutical market under the brand name Priligy in form of 30 and 60 mg film-coated tablets.

Dapoxetine is approved for the treatment of PE in men aged 18 to 64 years and may be prescribed in the event that:

  • the patient experiences premature ejaculation with minimal sexual stimulation intermittently or continuously
  • PE brings psychological distress and reduces the quality of sexual life
  • latent intravaginal ejaculation time is less than two minutes
  • PE occurred in the majority of intercourses within the six-month

It is assumed that the therapeutic effect of Dapoxetine in the treatment of PE is associated with the inhibition of serotonin reuptake (neurotransmitter, good mood hormone).

This hormone controls the sensitivity of brain receptors for stress hormones (norepinephrine and epinephrine), as well as the affects sexual function and sexual desire of men.

Accumulation of serotonin under Dapoxetine influence leads to ejaculation delay. Clinical studies have shown that Dapoxetine significantly increases the duration of sexual intercourse, and helps keep longer erection.

The therapeutic effect of the drug for the PE treatment develops within an hour after the tablet ingestion, and the maximum plasma concentration is reached in about 1-2 hours.

The final half-life period is about 19 hours. Sapoxetine is excreted primarily by the kidneys within 24 hours.

It should be noted that this drug is not suitable for a continuous daily use. It is recommended for use only when necessary, immediately one to two hours before anticipated sexual intercourse.

The recommended starting dose of Dapoxetine is 30 mg (1 Priligy tablet per day). If the desired effect was not achieved, when using 30 mg of Dapoxetine, the therapeutic dose should be increased to 60 mg.

However, increasing the therapeutic dose is not recommended when the starting dose results in orthostatic hypotension, because this may lead to a serious reduction in blood pressure.

The maximum daily dose should not exceed 60 mg per day. It should be noted that increasing the dose at the same time increases the risk of side effects (including long-lasting erection).

Therefore, all patients are advised to adhere to the recommended dosage regimen to avoid adverse reactions, which may cause syncope and discomfort.

Dapoxetine pills have quite a bitter taste, so they should be swallowed whole without chewing or dividing into parts to avoid an unpleasant taste in the mouth.

You may take this medication regardless of meals with a glass of pure water.

Dapoxetine requires particular caution, when used in patients with impaired liver and kidney functions. The drug for the PE treatment is not recommended for patients with severe renal and hepatic failure.

To avoid the reduction of tolerance to orthostatic hypotension, Dapoxetine should not be used in men with erectile dysfunction, which take PDE5 inhibitors.

Abrupt withdrawal of the drug after its long-term use may cause irritability, headache, insomnia and dizziness. For this reason, the discontinuation of the drug should be made gradually.

Dapoxetine is well tolerated, if you follow all of the recommendations. It helps delay ejaculation and promotes longer erections, which in turn prolongs the time of sexual intercourse.

Premature ejaculation is a serious problem for many men. Dapoxetine, used by men with sexual problems, enables them to live a normal sexual life.

This drug does not cause addiction and helps coping with the fears, caused by short intercourse and lack of longer erections.
